Our in-house team of qualified and highly experienced engineers includes over 30 people; from newly-fledged students introduced via our graduate programme, through to experienced professionals with decades of continued service.
We use our expertise to support customers (and consultants) from an early concept design stage, to ensure the product specification is appropriate for your individual requirements.
Our team is fluent in mechanical, structural, civil, and EC&I disciplines, and are represented at Chartered level within the IMechE, ICE, and IET.
We supplement our design team with the latest in engineering software, to ensure that customer requirements are continually exceeded. Our software of choice is the AutoDesk Collection suite, which includes Inventor 3D & AutoCAD 2D (mechanical and electrical) for our design activities, and Navisworks & Revit for our BIM integration.
Analysis work is undertaken in ANSYS where appropriate, with our Engineering Toolkit encompassing calculation tools for more standard configurations. Our internal Blast Analysis Tool (BAT) underpins our ability to design doorsets and structures to resist blast magnitudes at various impulses.
FEA – Finite Elemental Analysis
Our FEA work is key to the success of our business, and distinguishes us from any competitors. It provides us with the platform to continue to innovate and push the boundaries of excellence.
We use FEA to simulate product performance in advance of any destructive testing, or as an alternative method to assure products where testing is not feasible.
Our simulations allow us to predict the behaviour of any product or configuration under specific test conditions, thereby ensuring that any eventual destructive test has the best chance of success first time. This analysis data can also be offered to our clients as part of an assurance package, without the need for destructive testing, but instead through theoretical assessments and modelling.

Research & Development
Engineering is the home of our R&D team, who integrate with all other areas of the business to ensure product optimisation is continually achieved.
Product development is offered as a standalone project or as part of a project team.
Our annual R&D expenditure exceeds £1m, which includes new product development, innovation through material science, and destructive/ non-destructive testing. Our experience in R&D and assurance frequently results in our customers engaging us for advice on testing configurations in excess of our conventional door safety systems.

Team Capabilities
Our engineering team have a vast array of capabilities developed through experience and training, which includes:
Nurturing Our Future
In line with our company values, we have established strategic partnerships with local universities which allows us to support the continued development of students, whilst gaining a different perspective on our products and procedures.
