Booth Industries was chosen to be the major specialist door supplier across the landmark Crossrail project.

As well as manufacturing & installing tunnel and cross passage doors, we installed over 700 doors across eight Crossrail projects, demonstrating flexibility of resources, and expert project management to meet programme demand.

Amongst other things, technical complexity was an ongoing challenge, which was overcome through innovation and expertise. The end result – all doors handed over and assured to the highest standards.

Close collaboration and coordination was required to meet the challenging programme constraints on the project.

Proud to say – “we delivered on our promise !”

Delivering a project as large and complex as Crossrail was only possible due to Booths’ knowledge and experience, gained over decades of working on high profile infrastructure projects.

Some of the challenges we had to overcome included:

  • Large variety of door types required, with almost all being unique, and at the same time still requiring assurance.
  • Doors had to be designed to meet rigorous pressures across different sites.
  • High acoustic ratings were a key requirement on several stations – especially in residential areas.
  • Required to design, manufacture & install other ancillary products, such a bulkheads and supporting steelwork.
  • Coordinating with other trades, often in confined spaces, whilst ensuring the highest Health and Safety standards were met.
  • Installation windows were constrained, making detailed planning & coordination vital.
  • Protecting doors until handover was achieved.
  • Complex lifting in ‘sensitive’ areas – both internally and externally.

Example below:  53dB acoustic doors installed at level 3 , Western Ticket Hall vent shaft, Bond Street Station.

“Working with Booth on Crossrail was a joy. They worked collaboratively to ensure we managed the volume of doors that we required throughout the programme through some challenging times, whilst they always maintained the quality of product and installation that we required.”
