The Clair Ridge project was conceived by BP to develop and extract new resources from the giant Clair field, which is the largest oilfield in the UK Continental shelf.

Clair Ridge was to be the second phase of the field’s development, and designed for 40 years of production.

Given the long life required of the asset, the project was seeking the suppliers who could provide products not only of the best quality, but also of the best long-term economic benefit.

As a result, the Booth name for reliability and quality was at the forefront of the design of the platform

With our long track-record supporting customers in the oil & gas industry, we were delighted to work with Hyundai Heavy Industries, Korea in delivering a series of contracts for BP’s flagship new Clair Ridge development.

The series of contracts included the design and fabrication of A and H-rated  stainless steel pre-fabricated blast, fire and wind walls for the Driling Equipment Sets and Topside Modules;.

Additionally, we were commissioned to design, manufacture and install A and H-rated and Jet Fire-rated  stainless steel blast & fire resistant doorsets for the Drilling Equipment Sets, Topsides and Living Quarter Modules; as well as A and H-rated blast and fire-resistant units with stainless steel frames – all with blast loads up to 0.3bar.

Our contracts were delivered over a four year period, and were all designed completely in-house by our Engineering team.   We had to draw on our extensive experience in the field in order to conceive unique designs based on proven technology, in order to meet the project’s exacting specifications,  Our pioneering use of Duplex stainless steel was the perfect answer to the strict weight restrictions, as we were able to keep the wall component weights as low as possible, whilst still delivering on performance and protection.

Installation was carried out in various locations globally, principally in Korea , and our team of Project Managers co-ordinated all contracts successfully between different work sites, and completed this on time and on budget.   This series of successful contracts cemented our reputation as the offshore leader in doors & wall systems !
