Doors Head to the South Pole

Following the successful FAT testing , the doors were all painted to the specific Antarctic-grade protection level, and then carefully & securely packed ready for the long journey ahead.

The doors’ own expedition begins from Bolton, north to Teeside for loading onto a dedicated Antarctic cargo ship, which then heads directly from the UK to Antarctica on a journey of around 6 weeks.

The next stage is for our installation engineers to be reunited with the doors at Rothera, for the challenging job of installing the doors to the research station in the extreme environment !
