Booth Leaves Lasting Impression on Local MP

Booth Industries were delighted to welcome recently the Bolton MP Yasmin Qureshi, to our premises for a visit and conversation with the business management & workers.

Having toured the facilities and spent time discussing Booth’s success & aspirations for the future, the Labour MP was clearly impressed with Booth Industries, and with having such a successful, progressive and visionary business on her own doorstep.

The front bench MP, who is also the former Shadow Minister for International Development, and is the current Shadow Minister for Women & Equalities, said of her visit:

” It was great to visit Booth Industries in my constituency to see first hand the work they are doing to support HS2 (through their £36m cross passage tunnel door contract).  Infrastructure investment schemes like HS2 are crucial to growing our economy and rebalancing our regional inequalities which are so stark throughout the North West.  Booth Industries is a real local success story which proves there is a place in Britain for good, well paid, green manufacturing jobs”

Furthermore, she added:

“When I visited Booth Industries,  it became clear to me that we must have a “make, buy and sell in Britain” policy when developing our industrial strategy: the benefits of that are clear. Booth Industries’  contract to manufacture tunnel doors has allowed it to diversify into other sectors.  I saw first-hand the work the company does to support large infrastructure projects and how it is contributing to our local economy – providing over 150 jobs in Bolton.”

Following her visit, the MP subsequently addressed the House of Commons to relate her experience of Booth Industries, and highlight the importance of proper support for industrial development and the future of British manufacturing.   Listen to the MP discuss Booth Industries below:
